The interval of one life is punctuated of moments and degrees which go from the most exteriorised activity to a more internal life. On this painting, the square enclosed space represents these degrees of interiority, whereas the way is marked out with the 14 stations of the “Way of the Cross” characteristic of the Franciscan tradition. At the centre, the words of the Christ say He is “the Way, the Truth, the Life” and the Marian M stands for the mountain where the Cross will be fixed up.
